Defraggler is unique defragmenting software because it can selectively move fragmented files to the end of the drive if you don't access them often, essentially speeding up access to files you do use.

The three sections splitting the interface give you information on the drives, shows the drive map so you can have a visual representation of the fragmentation level and how data is disposed; the lower part of the screen is reserved for details on the current state of the selected drive: amount of fragmented data, fragmentation level and total number of fragments.

Requirements

In order to test the application’s efficiency we used a 2GB partition with 200MB of free space (10%), for which Defraggler reported a 97% fragmentation level. At the beginning of the test the total number of fragments was a little over 19,000 while the count for fragmented files reached 494.

Defraggler has also received lots of good reviews. Defraggler scans quicker than Windows Disk Defragmenter, but nonetheless, it detects fragmentation that Disk Defragmenter doesn't. It is also thorough with the defragmentation process, tells you exactly what is going on and has a nice interface. But what I'm asking is, first of all, whether or not Defraggler (or any other Piriform program) is malware and, second of all, how much better (or worse) Defraggler is than Disk Defragmenter.

I just replaced a hard drive and and installed Avast. Over the last several days, I noticed that when I click on a web site, it is taking painfully long to load. After some searching, the Avast web shield came up as a problem for many folks. I turned it off, and the problem ceased. Same with the mail shield. I do not recall this problem in earlier versions, but it has me considering another program. I can't recommend, without a warning about this issue.

I highly recommend Avast. It keeps me secure. It's done so for several years. It's certainly a lot better than software I've used before. My first was Norton, which I dropped after getting a virus, and because of fraud. It would claim that flash games were malicious trojans. Even well-known and popular commercial software products would be labeled as specific viruses. I also found out they've committed fraud in scans to make people believe their software is more necessary than it is. I've used AVG, as well. That was a pretty good antivirus, but when I got infected, I cast it aside, and went with Avast. I've been using it since.
